GLASS

I first worked with glass in 1999 and was immediately drawn to its seductive mercurial qualities. At times I struggle with its beauty, concerned that is can easily be seen as superficial and too decorative to be appreciated for the merit of its content when used to create a work of art. Ant then I just give in and work to make its glorious, garish look, over the top! The immediacy of its nature is very appealing. It is almost like Christmas when it is time to open up the kiln!

After having had my own foundry to cast aluminum and bronze, the casting of glass is pure joy! It is a challenge for me to have my glass artwork not to appear flat. Often I want a 3 dimensional quality to my finished projects so they become more sculptural.
